A curatorial house that generates, presents, and exchanges ideas running against institutional discourse, Vernâcular is an evolving space for experimentation, transformed by each artist’s engagements. Projects that emphasise performative approaches and collaborative programming are framed by a curatorial narrative of how art responds to our present-day social-political concepts including labour, borders, feminism and resistance. 

Vernäcular is an independent, non-profit institute run by curator Jo Ying Peng. Formerly based in Taipei and now established in Mexico City, Vernåcular fosters bilateral dialogue between Latin America and Asian artists.
