el ROOM is a platform where different artistic projects intertwine such as; artist residency, workshops, exhibitions and activities related to contemporary art. Our goal as a residency and platform is to create an incubator for contemporary art, cultivate community  and celebrate the creative process.

Artist Residency

never stop looking for inspiration 

We are located in the historic center of Mexico City just steps away from a paradise of cultural atractions including, museums, parks, restaurants, art supply stores, arquitecture, and pyramid ruins. The building where we are located, Edificio Humboldt, is another kind of paradise, over 100 years old boasting meticulously conserved art deco arquitecture, is a  highly curated and competative platform in and of itself. All projects in the building are creative spanning from the contemporary art platform Terremoto to fashion designers suchas Carmen Rion and Carla Fernandez. We also have outdoor comunal spaces like the patio garden just outside our residency doors as well as as a magnificent rooftop terrace with urban views where our residents are invited to rest or to sketch outdoors.

Our residency space is aproximately 100 m2 with double high ceilings. The private studio space is 12 m2 and our comunal working space is aproximately 70 m2. Our residency is geared towards drawing, painting, video, photography, and interdisciplinary work. Our installations do not easily accomodate sculpture however we are open to review 3D projects.
