Ottawa based artist with more than 200 collective and solo exhibitions and 27 years of trajectory, Irma studied Graphic Design at Universidad Iberoamericana Leon (1998)
As self-taught artist, her artwork has been shown in diverse Art Museums and Cultural Centres across Mexico, USA, Canada, Egypt, Germany, France, England, Poland, Russia, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Republic of Macedonia, Argentina, China among others selected in more than 20 International biennials and held in both private and public collections, including Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Egypt), Novosibirk’s State Museum (Russia), and the Museum of Arts of Queretaro (Mexico). She collaborate in the fist Mexican stop motion movie “Inzomnia” from director Karla Castañeda.
In 1997 met recognized artist Jose Luis Cuevas who became her tutor and mentor. She lived in Barcelona and attended the Advance School of Art and Design (LLOJTA), and several printmaking workshops in 2000. That same year she became a member of the Printmaking Workshop “La Torre de los Grillos” along with Sergio Garval, Humberto Baca, Juan Carlos Macias, Cornelio Garcia among others in Guadalajara.
Director of Institute of Art and Culture of Tepic City, Mexico (2002-2005, 2011-2012) where as pioneer, she created, designed & developed cultural events, as “Festival de las Animas” that still running nowadays, the first “Desfile de Catrinas” in downtown, “Espacios Culturales” the first cultural spots in radio, “Festival de los Alebrijes”, “Origenes de Tepic”, “Jose Luis Cuevas Exhibition”, “Boda Huichola de Jose Luis Cuevas” among others. As well as curated art exhibitions. In 2021 the Iconic Center of Contemporary Art Emilia Ortiz CAC in Tepic, Mexico paid her homage naming an Exhibition Hall Number one after her. She is an Art Instructor at the OSAO Ottawa School of Art at Shenkman Art Center, one of the top rated Art Schools in Canada, where her Summer Camp “The Magic and Art of Mexico” in the making of ¨Alebrijes¨, “Cartoneria Tradicional” and Piñatas become highly popular.

Her youtube channel @irmadibujandolahistoria is an educational Art and Historic channel about remarcable artists and those who made history meanwhile drawing their portrait. As Logotype Designer, she created the official Logotype of 80th Anniversary of Mexico – Canada of Diplomatic Relations in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico and Consulate of Mexico in Ottawa, Canada.
