Jules David

Julio David Rojas Aguayo is a Mexican painter, illustrator, and educator specializing in realist painting, conceptual design, and visual storytelling. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design, Animation, and Digital Art, a Master’s degree in Multimedia Design, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with additional expertise in literature and philosophy rooted in the Hispanic-Greco-Latin tradition.

Trained at the renowned Watts Atelier of the Arts, his artistic approach draws heavily from the Spanish Golden Age, blending classical techniques with contemporary digital innovations. His work focuses on integrating tradition and modernity to create compelling narratives in illustration and design.

Currently, Julio David teaches painting and illustration workshops at #Hashtag Gallery, fostering the growth of artists by combining technical mastery with a philosophical understanding of art. Through his teaching and creative practice, he aims to inspire a new generation of artists to bridge the gap between timeless artistic traditions and the demands of today’s visual culture.

Oceah Clarke Ceramics Instructor at Casa Lienzo art residency CDMX

Oceah Clark

Born into a family of artists, Oceah Clark sculpted his first clay at the age of 5. It was the type of piece only a mother could love, and one that she still prizes. He has yet to stop exploring clay, a medium both humble and infinite, and one of Oceah’s favorite paths to a state of meditative calmness.

He honed his sculpting and wheel-throwing techniques at the University of Oregon, earning a BA in Multimedia Design, and has since produced unique collections in Boston, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Canada, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and here in Mexico City. Inspired by shapes of antiquity, Oceah looks to blend form and function into contemporary vessels both minimalist and refined.

Working with Oceah will involve preparatory sketching and form visioning as well as consideration of scale, utility and clay as a medium. While wheel-thrown pottery will be the focus, our exploration can also include sculpting – a beautiful path to one-of-a-kind treasures.

Creative sessions will take place in Oceah’s rooftop garden ½ block from Casa Lienzo, the perfect environment to inspire exploration of one of humanity’s oldest arts.
