Maïmouna Guerresi, A’ishah: Los caminos del alma

We are pleased to present “A’ishah: Los caminos del alma” (A’ishah: The Paths of the Soul), the first exhibition by Maïmouna Guerresi in Mexico and Latin America, and the fourth with the gallery. Conceived as a journey through works created at different stages of the artist’s practice—from 2016 to 2025— united by a central theme: the affirmation of female spiritual strength.

At the heart of the exhibition lies a profound meditation on the symbolic power of sacred feminine icons across cultures and continents. By linking the Black Madonnas of Europe—venerated figures often obscured by colonial narratives—with Mexico’s Virgen de Guadalupe, Guerresi opens a space of dialogue between African, Islamic, and Latin American spiritual traditions.

Nos complace presentar “A’ishah: Los caminos del alma”, la primera exposición de Maïmouna Guerresi en México y América Latina, y la cuarta con la galería. Concebida como un viaje a través de obras creadas en diferentes etapas de la práctica de la artista —desde 2016 hasta 2025, la exposición está unida por un tema central: la afirmación de la fuerza espiritual femenina.

En el corazón de la muestra se encuentra una profunda meditación sobre el poder simbólico de los íconos femeninos sagrados a través de culturas y continentes. Al vincular las vírgenes negras de Europa —figuras veneradas a menudo oscurecidas por las narrativas coloniales— con la Virgen de Guadalupe de México, Guerresi abre un espacio de diálogo entre las tradiciones espirituales africanas, islámicas y latinoamericanas.
