Magdalena Kluth

Magdalena Kluth’s practice is rooted in the experimental exploration of the parameters that define painting and the use of diverse materials. Rejecting rigid notions and categorizations, her work is driven by an interest in understanding materials at their core. She deconstructs traditional rules and frameworks of painting, creating a visual language that fosters an emotional connection with the viewer.

In her work, the creative process is intimately tied to emotional expression. A significant aspect of her work involves the use of water, exploring the concept that its molecular structure can be influenced by human consciousness. Kluth utilizes this phenomenon to manipulate materials, playing with different structures and textures.

She focuses on reactions on the canvas, carefully observing the interactions between pigment, oil, water, and other materials. Multiple layers of swamp lime, pigment, ink and marble powder add depth to her images, with each layer connecting structures, forms, and colors to either enhance or shift the viewer’s focus.

Magdalena Kluth studied Fashion and Communication at the Academy of Fashion and Design in Düsseldorf and Berlin, Germany. Her recent exhibitions were solo shows at Revuelta Gallery and the Gallery of Radio28, both in Mexico City. Through her work, she aims to explore and convey the raw purity of emotions, inviting viewers to experience a deeper connection with the art. Her upcoming shows include exhibitions at Arthouse and KOIK, both Galleries located in Mexico City.
