‘Fractal Ride Parade’ is a solo exhibition by Cosa Rapozo (Dolores Hidalgo, México, 1987)
Fractal Ride Parade displays sculptural pieces and assemblies that allude to the carousel through its characteristic formal elements. In this way, I construct a reflection where the carousel becomes a metaphor for colonialism, staging animality, domesticating it, and turning it into a spectacle. Through the fragmentation of a whole and the selection of pieces, I sketch a tension between the festive/naïve (the carousel as attraction) and the violent (a hypothetical body impaled and forced to perform a cycle of rides).
