Programa de Residencias Casa Lü

At Casa Lü, we offer visiting artists a living and/or working space in an international setting. Each group consists of six artists-in-residence, five with housing and one without housing, receiving continuous assistance and support from our experienced hosts. We foster a collaborative atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas through various activities. Moreover, residents are welcome to showcase their work at a group exhibition at the end of the program. Several have established professional collaborations and networks during their stay. A residency at Casa Lü can be a source of inspiration, productivity, and a significant enhancement to our residents’ artistic practice.

WE OFFER TWO PROGRAMS:

REGULAR RESIDENCY PROGRAM

This program is designed for artists with a medium or extensive background. Here, you can concentrate exclusively on your creative output, whether you’re kickstarting or furthering the trajectory of your work. You’ll have dedicated time and space to work tirelessly. This program includes:

FOUNDATIONAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM

This program is tailored for new artists who are at the beginning stages of their artistic journey or those transitioning from other creative disciplines to explore artistic experimentation. Our emphasis lies in fostering an educational setting that encourages the growth of an artistic practice.

The structure closely resembles that of the Regular Residency Program, encompassing the same activities, along with weekly lectures on the Mexican contemporary art scene and a workshop aimed at aiding residents in constructing or enhancing a portfolio, artist statement, and biography. This program includes:

  • Private accommodation with an ensuite bathroom (there is only one spot per group with no accomodation included)
  • Studio space
  • Logistical and technical support from the Casa Lü staff to successfully realize projects
  • Excursions to galleries and museums, studio visits with esteemed local artists, and a variety of other enriching cultural activities.
  • Weekly meetings with our team and/or fellow residents
  • Project feedback and guidance from our team
  • Studio visits and feedback from guest members of Mexico City’s art scene
  • Workshop on how to create a professional portfolio, write an artist’s statement, and develop a bio
  • Lectures on the Mexican contemporary art scene and related subjects

Accommodation

We accommodate five residents per group, providing a shared studio space for four individuals and one private studio. The residency house features a kitchen, living room, garden, and all bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms. Linens and essential kitchen equipment are provided. Situated in a residential neighborhood, residents are expected to observe the local ambiance and pace.

Visitors or partners are permitted for stays of up to 7 nights. For artist duos or individuals seeking a residency with their partner, children, or family, we recommend exploring our sister residency: EL SUR.
