Discover New English Art Club drawing scholar Anne-Lise Firth’s process for painting loose and expressive flowers in this 4-week online class. Flowers have beauty and character, from the start to the finish of their lives. The job for the floral still life painter is to decide how to organize and simplify this often overwhelming subject matter.

Beginning with simple drawings based on observation, Anne-lise will share how she achieves her magical paintings, from starting with a color idea to looking for the overall patterns and local colors and deciding when to stop. Her focus for the finished painting is on creating a looser and freer representation of the still life in front of her through mark making, lyricism, color, composition and shape. Anne-Lise’s goal is to show you simple ways to quickly find your way into your subject matter in order to build strong intent and feeling and to create emotional content and expression.

This class is suitable for painters of all levels working in the medium of their choice. Anne-Lise will work in oils and watercolor.
