‘Dungeness’ by Gaspard Le Guen

Artes Visuales

In our Project Room, we will present ‘Dungeness’ by Gaspard Le Guen (Le Havre, France, 1992) in collaboration with Gabriel Hörner (León, Mexico, 1963). Opening November 6, from 4 PM at Manuel Dublán 33, Tacubaya, Mexico City.

Named after the headland on the southeastern coast of England—home to the only desert in Great Britain—’Dungeness’ unfolds as an elegy to Joseph Conrad (1857–1924), the great chronicler of nautical life.

Through this body of work, Le Guen, in dialogue with Hörner, revisits the landscapes of myth, solitude, and ruin—those same forces that shaped Conrad’s writing and his years by the sea.

Le Guen, a graduate of the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design du Havre and the Offshore School in Shanghai, has exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo (FR), W139 Amsterdam (NL), and the Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro (MX). His project Servicio Nocturno / Los Ángeles was recognized among the best exhibitions of 2023.
