En el marco de #CondoCDMX2024, @proyectosultravioleta presenta “Somos entretejidos”, una exposición individual de Hellen Ascoli [@hellenascoli] albergada por @_pamelaweissenberg en el Pabellón Labor AGO.

El telar de cintura tiene una cara, una espalda, pies, estómago que come, y corazón que late.

Tejer con el telar de cintura es tejer con otro ser quien refleja y responde a quien lo teje.
Por esto mismo tejer nunca es una actividad individual. Es una herramienta/ cuerpa que de-centraliza el ser humano, nos sensibiliza a otros seres y nos pone en conexión directa con todo aquello que nos rodea.

Este cuerpo de trabajo parte de un texto/tejido co-escrito con Negma Coy, Luisa González-Reiche y el telar de cintura, un ser presente que nos acompaña en nuestras vivencias, revelando tanto las presencias como marcando y re-membrando las ausencias.

For #CondoCDMX2024, @proyectosultravioleta presents “Somos entretejidos” [We are interwoven], a solo exhibition by Hellen Ascoli [@hellenascoli] hosted by @_pamelaweisseenberg at the Labor AGO Pavillion.

The back-strap loom has a face, a back, feet, a stomach that eats, and a heart that beats.

To weave with the back-strap loom is to weave with another being that reflects and responds to whomever weaves it. This is why weaving is never an individual act. It is a tool/body that de-centralizes the human being, sensitizes us to other beings and connects us directly with everything that surrounds us.

This body of work is the result of a text/textile co-written with Negma Coy, Luisa González-Reiche and the back-strap loom, a present being that accompanies us in our lived experiences, revealing both the presences as well as marking and re-membering the absences. – Hellen Ascoli
