Promueve el conocimiento, entendimiento y pr\u00e1ctica de las artes visuales internacionalmente.<\/p>\n<p>La Real Academia surgi\u00f3 a partir de una disputa entre los arquitectos Sir\u00a0<a title=\"William Chambers (arquitecto)\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Chambers_(arquitecto)\">William Chambers<\/a>\u00a0y\u00a0<a title=\"James Paine\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/James_Paine\">James Paine<\/a>\u00a0por el liderazgo de la Sociedad de Artistas. Paine gan\u00f3, pero Chambers jur\u00f3 venganza y us\u00f3 sus conexiones con\u00a0<a title=\"Jorge III del Reino Unido\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jorge_III_del_Reino_Unido\">el rey<\/a>\u00a0para crear una nueva instituci\u00f3n art\u00edstica, la Real Academia, en 1768. Los cuarenta fundadores fueron admitidos el 10 de diciembre de 1768. Sir\u00a0<a title=\"Joshua Reynolds\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joshua_Reynolds\">Joshua Reynolds<\/a>\u00a0fue el primer presidente, y\u00a0<a title=\"Benjamin West\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Benjamin_West\">Benjamin West<\/a>\u00a0el segundo. Fue renovada en 1920 con una nueva ense\u00f1anza y t\u00e9cnica. La instituci\u00f3n ha tenido varias sedes desde su fundaci\u00f3n, y ocupa la actual (Burlington House), en\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Piccadilly Street\" href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Piccadilly_Street\">Piccadilly Street<\/a>, desde 1868.
