{"id":38043,"date":"2025-11-09T14:46:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T20:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themesh.art\/?post_type=venues&#038;p=38043"},"modified":"2025-11-09T14:46:22","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T20:46:22","slug":"lagos-oaxaca","status":"publish","type":"venues","link":"https:\/\/themesh.art\/en\/venues\/lagos-oaxaca\/","title":{"rendered":"lagos Oaxaca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sqsrte-large\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--white\">Lagos is an artist-in-residence program and studio rental space dedicated to the production, exhibition, and development of contemporary art projects.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>We are a self-managed organization run by artists for artists, promoting the intersection of art professionals with locations in\u00a0<strong>Berlin<\/strong>, Germany; and in Mexico, in the states of\u00a0<strong>Oaxaca<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Baja California<\/strong>, as well as in\u00a0<strong>Mexico City<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--white\">Lagos supports and sustains artists at crucial moments in their careers by offering workspaces, facilitating collaborations with specialists in various disciplines, and promoting new audiences through a program of curatorial residencies, studio rentals, exhibitions, monthly open studios, educational programs, and community collaborations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--white\">Lagos is open to artists, curators, writers, editors, and cultural agents, offering them the opportunity to become part of the creative landscape of Mexico and Germany, as well as collaborations and projects that broaden the discussion of current issues approached through contemporary art.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>____________________________________<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\">The Artist Residency Program <strong>lagos | Oaxaca<\/strong> seeks to offer a unique space for artistic creation and intercultural dialogue, centered on a space of creation and reflection that values inner and\/or collaborative connection.<br \/>\nArtists will receive curatorial and logistical support, and will have the opportunity to interact with local artisan communities. The program offers two modalities: personal (for individual projects) and collaborative (to work with local artisans, whether it is by commisioning work, learning a new technique or through joint projects between the artisan and the artist). Additionally, participants will be able to join local and international professional networks through the Lagos I Platform. The residency is open year-round, with both personal and collaborative modalities, and its duration ranges from 1 to 3 months, with monthly costs that include all basic services and local transportation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>In collaboration with artists <strong>Mercedes Gertz<\/strong> and <strong>M\u00f3nica Castillo<\/strong>, lagos expands to San Pablo Etla, a community located 20 minutes from the city of Oaxaca, offering an exceptional natural and cultural environment. The lagos I Oaxaca program \u00a0is intended for artists to enrich their practice through the fusion of contemporary art with traditional Oaxacan knowledge. In a well-equipped house\/studio, suitable for an individual residency, it provides the conditions for full concentration in the development of a project, exhibition, or body of work.
