La gente se refer\u00eda a ellos como \u201clas pinturas\u201d o \u201clas pinturas del com\u00fan\u201d. Se mostrar\u00e1n las conexiones entre los elementos pict\u00f3ricos y la informaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica y geogr\u00e1fica contenida en las pinturas del com\u00fan, y c\u00f3mo se reflejan en este grupo de documentos los conocimientos, preocupaciones y aspiraciones de diversos sectores al interior de los pueblos zapotecas del periodo colonial. Tambi\u00e9n se mostrar\u00e1 c\u00f3mo las sucesivas generaciones que los han heredado han atribuido informaci\u00f3n y valores muy espec\u00edficos a estos documentos en distintos momentos hist\u00f3ricos, contribuyendo a darles vitalidad y vigencia para las comunidades a las que pertenecen.
