Erika Zorrilla

Biography

Erika Zorrilla Muñoz, born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, is an architect who graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla. She has been based in Mexico City since 2003.

Her artistic practice has developed over the years through sustained studio work, as well as through various courses and workshops.

Her work has been presented in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout Mexico and internationally.

Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses a range of painting and drawing techniques, as well as collage, photography, textile art, and sculpture. Throughout her work, there is an ongoing dialogue with nature, color, and the search for balance.

“My work is inspired by the interaction between the visible and the intangible. Through abstract and figurative forms, I explore the connection between mind and spirit through the emotions that shape our essence as human beings.

My graphic explorations are inspired by nature and the body, particularly by the heart, which represents the most spiritual connection to the soul.

My technical processes combine elements of traditional painting with continuous experimentation, allowing each work to come alive through a unique visual language.

The influences within my work emerge from the colors, textures, and forms found in nature. For me, the act of creating is a way of transmuting and expressing the invisible.

Each piece is an invitation for the viewer to pause and look deeply inward, reconnecting with what is essential.”
